Zarda Recipe | Meethay Chawal
Zarda is also known as meethay chawal and is one of the famous festival dishes. Today, I am sharing quick and easy zarda recipe. People also add cham cham, gulab jamun, tutti frutti or rasgulay along with different dry fruits to make it more delicious. Furthermore, some people also add khoya in zarda. So, its up to you whether you want to make it simple or more colorful. Let’s look at the ingredients you need to make zarda.

Zarda Recipe Ingredients:
- Water
- 1/2 tsp orange food color
- 1/4th tsp salt
- 2 glasses of rice
- 1/2 cup oil
- 4 green cardamoms
- 2 cloves
- 2 glasses of sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- Dry fruits (almonds, coconut etc.)
- 3 tbsp. cream
Method of making Zarda:
- First step to make zarda is to boil rice, for that take a wok and add water, orange food color and salt in it. now wait for a while until the water starts boiling.
- Once the water started boiling, add soaked rice in it and cook them until they are 75% done. After that, strain rice.
- Now in the same wok, add oil, green cardamom, cloves and sugar. mix all the ingredients and then add milk and water. Cook until the sugar completely dissolves in water and milk mixture.
- Once you are done with this step add boiled rice in it mix well and add dry fruits of your choice. cook rice until all the wet ingredients dries up.
- After that, add cream and mix rice. Now cover the lid and cook zarda rice on low heat for good 10 minutes. Make sure to mix the rice after 5 minutes. Your delicious zarda is ready to eat.
Note: Mix orange food color in 4 tbsp. water and then add color into the wok. Secondly, soak rice for 30 minutes before boiling them.
